From the end of March to early April it is the cherry blossom season. The neighboring Kokura Castle gets very crowded with people coming to admire its famous cherry blossoms. We recommend you stop by at RIVERWALK KITAKYUSHU first, to get your food and drinks to-go to enjoy under the cherry trees!

Summer

In any week in Summer, there will be some festivals going on somewhere in Kitakyushu. Strongly recommended are “Kokura Gion” in the 3rd week of July and “Wasshoi Hyakuman Summer Festival” in the 1st week of August. Both are held around Kokura Castle, which stands next to RIVERWALK KITAKYUSHU. “Wasshoi Hyakuman Summer Festival” in particular features s a spectacular parade that gathers together various festivals from all over Kitakyushu, as well as a fireworks display. July also is the summer bargain month at RIVERWALK KITAKYUSHU.
